Terms of Service

1. What MakanMana is

A free directory of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor food spots that are genuinely famous — as evidenced by named public sources: food creators ("KOLs") on YouTube and blogs, and recognised guides such as the MICHELIN Guide. We aggregate and attribute; we never review. No one at MakanMana rates, ranks by taste, or writes reviews of any restaurant. Every recommendation on this site is a cited, linked reference to a named third-party source. By using MakanMana you agree to these terms.

2. Listing data — how it is compiled, and its limits

Compiled from public sources. Listing facts (name, address, coordinates, phone, opening pattern, price range) are compiled from publicly available sources and cross-checked against Google's business data. KOL citations link to the creator's own published video or article. Every listing carries a last-verified date.

No warranty of accuracy. Restaurants move, close, change hours and prices at their own discretion. Information is provided "as is" and "as available", for general reference. Always confirm directly with the restaurant before travelling or ordering — especially opening hours and halal status, which we report from sources but cannot certify.

Ratings shown are Google's, not ours. Star ratings and review counts come from Google and reflect Google users' opinions. "Top 10" lists are ranked by a transparent, mechanical measure of coverage across published sources ("KOL buzz") — not by our judgment of taste.

Halal status. A "halal" tag reflects what our cited sources report (including self-declaration by the restaurant). It is not a certification, and we are not JAKIM. Diners for whom this matters must verify with the restaurant or check official JAKIM channels.

Corrections. Anyone may report an error by email. Restaurant owners may request corrections or removal at any time under the Takedown Policy.

3. Photos, videos and third-party content

Photos are displayed under licence from Google's Places service, each carrying the photographer's credit and profile link as Google's terms require. We do not scrape photos from Google Maps, review platforms, blogs or restaurant websites.

Videos play via official YouTube embeds using YouTube's own player, under YouTube's terms. We never download, re-host, crop or edit any creator's video.

Creator quotes and names. Short quotes from creators' published reviews appear with clear attribution and a link to the original. Creator names are used solely to attribute their own published work (see Attribution & Content Policy). Any creator may have their citations removed at any time.

Trademarks and non-affiliation. MICHELIN, Bib Gourmand, Google, YouTube, and all restaurant and creator names and marks belong to their respective owners. MakanMana is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the MICHELIN Guide, Google, YouTube, or any restaurant or creator featured on this site. References to the MICHELIN Guide are factual statements that a restaurant appears in that guide.

4. Takedown — our 48-hour commitment

If you are a restaurant, a creator, a photographer, or any rights holder and want content corrected or removed, see the Takedown Policy. We action legitimate removal requests within 48 hours and record a permanent opt-out so the content is not re-compiled.

5. Acceptable use

You must not: scrape or bulk-extract the directory; frame or mirror the site; use automated tools to harvest listing or contact data; misrepresent MakanMana content as your own; or interfere with the service's operation.

6. Intellectual property

The directory's structure, software, original descriptions and compilation are ours. Photos remain their photographers'; videos and quotes remain their creators'; restaurant marks remain the restaurants'. Nothing in these terms transfers anyone's IP to anyone else.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law: we exclude liability for loss arising from reliance on listing information (including hours, prices, dietary and halal information), from the conduct of any restaurant or creator, or from service interruptions; and our total aggregate liability to any user is capped at RM100 (MakanMana is free). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act 1999 where it applies.

8. Privacy

Personal data is handled per our Privacy Policy (published in English and Bahasa Malaysia), which forms part of these terms. MakanMana requires no account and no sign-up; the "near me" feature computes distances entirely on your device.

9. Advertising and sponsorship

MakanMana currently carries no paid placements. If that changes, any sponsored or paid position will be clearly labelled as such, and paid placement will never be presented as, or influence, a KOL citation or ranking.

10. Changes, governing law, contact

We may update these terms; continued use after an update is acceptance, and material changes will be flagged on this page. These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia; the courts of Malaysia have exclusive jurisdiction. Contact: Infinite Concept (SSM Reg. Privacy Policy

Issued in English and Bahasa Malaysia per PDPA s.7(3). If there is any inconsistency, the English version prevails. Data user: Infinite Concept (SSM Reg. No. 202603104551 (PG0586619-A)), operating makanmana.com.my. Contact: hello@makanmana.com.my.

1. What this covers

How we handle personal data on MakanMana — a free directory of KL and Selangor food spots. MakanMana is deliberately minimal on data: no accounts, no sign-up, no enquiry forms, and nothing to log in to.

2. Personal data we collect

Your location — stays on your device. The "near me" feature asks your browser for your location only when you tap it, and the distance calculation happens entirely on your device. Your coordinates are never transmitted to us, never stored by us, and never shared. (One necessary nuance: if you use the map view, the map tile provider — OpenStreetMap, below — learns which map area your browser is displaying, as with any online map.) Decline the prompt and the site still works — pick an area by name instead.

Server logs. Standard web-server logs: IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps. Security and aggregate statistics only, kept 90 days.

Preferences. Your theme choice is stored in your own browser's local storage; it never leaves your device.

Nothing else. We collect no names, emails or phone numbers from visitors, and no sensitive personal data. If you email us, we hold that correspondence to process your request.

Public-source data about individuals. Listings cite food creators by their published channel or pen name, linking to their own work, and show photographer credits supplied by Google with each licensed photo. Any creator or photographer may have this removed via the Takedown Policy.

3. Third-party services

Some content is delivered by third parties, who may set their own cookies or receive your IP address when your browser loads their content, under their own privacy policies: YouTube (videos play in YouTube's privacy-enhanced embedded player, which sets cookies only once you play; thumbnails load from YouTube's image servers), OpenStreetMap (map tiles), and public CDNs (fonts and animation libraries). We run no advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers, and no third-party analytics scripts.

4. What we use data for

Operating and securing the website; aggregate usage statistics from server logs; responding to correction and takedown requests; meeting legal obligations. We do not sell personal data and we send no marketing email.

5. Overseas transfer

Site hosting may be located outside Malaysia. Server-log data is transferred outside Malaysia only under arrangements consistent with the PDPA's cross-border requirements (as amended 2024).

6. Retention

Server logs: 90 days. Takedown and opt-out records: permanent — that is how removed content stays removed. Correspondence: as long as needed to resolve the matter, then a reasonable archival period.

7. Your rights under the PDPA

You may request access to or correction of your personal data, withdraw consent, and require us by written notice to stop processing your data for direct marketing (s.43 — noting we do none). Under the 2024 amendments you may request data portability where technically feasible. Email hello@makanmana.com.my with "Data Request" in the subject; we respond within 21 days. If unsatisfied, you may complain to the Personal Data Protection Commissioner (Jabatan Perlindungan Data Peribadi).

8. Security, breach, cookies, children

We hold very little personal data by design; what we hold is access-controlled. In the event of a personal data breach we will notify the Commissioner and affected individuals as the PDPA (as amended 2024) requires. MakanMana sets no cookies of its own — third-party embeds may set theirs when you interact with them. MakanMana is a general-audience food directory; we do not knowingly collect any child's personal data.

9. Changes and contact

1. Skop notis ini

Bagaimana kami mengendalikan data peribadi di MakanMana — direktori percuma tempat makan di KL dan Selangor. MakanMana sengaja meminimumkan data: tiada akaun, tiada pendaftaran, tiada borang pertanyaan, dan tiada log masuk.

2. Data peribadi yang kami kumpul

Lokasi anda — kekal pada peranti anda. Ciri "berdekatan saya" meminta lokasi daripada pelayar anda hanya apabila anda menekannya, dan pengiraan jarak berlaku sepenuhnya pada peranti anda. Koordinat anda tidak pernah dihantar kepada kami, tidak disimpan oleh kami, dan tidak dikongsi. (Satu nuansa: jika anda menggunakan paparan peta, penyedia jubin peta — OpenStreetMap — mengetahui kawasan peta yang dipaparkan oleh pelayar anda, seperti mana-mana peta dalam talian.) Tolak permintaan pelayar dan laman ini tetap berfungsi — pilih kawasan mengikut nama.

Log pelayan. Log standard: alamat IP, jenis pelayar, halaman diminta, cap masa. Untuk keselamatan dan statistik agregat sahaja; disimpan 90 hari.

Keutamaan. Pilihan tema disimpan dalam storan tempatan pelayar anda sendiri; ia tidak meninggalkan peranti anda.

Tiada yang lain. Kami tidak mengumpul nama, e-mel mahupun nombor telefon pelawat, dan tiada data peribadi sensitif. Jika anda menghantar e-mel, kami menyimpan surat-menyurat itu untuk memproses permintaan anda.

Data sumber awam mengenai individu. Penyenaraian memetik pencipta kandungan melalui nama saluran mereka yang diterbitkan, dengan pautan ke karya mereka, dan memaparkan kredit jurugambar yang dibekalkan oleh Google. Mana-mana pencipta atau jurugambar boleh memintanya dialih keluar melalui Dasar Pengalihan Keluar.

3. Perkhidmatan pihak ketiga

Sesetengah kandungan disampaikan oleh pihak ketiga yang mungkin menetapkan kuki mereka sendiri atau menerima alamat IP anda: YouTube (pemain terbenam yang dipertingkatkan privasinya — kuki hanya selepas anda menekan main), OpenStreetMap (jubin peta), dan CDN awam (fon dan pustaka). Kami tidak menjalankan kuki pengiklanan, penjejak rentas laman, mahupun analitik pihak ketiga.

4-6. Kegunaan, pemindahan, tempoh simpanan

Data digunakan untuk mengendalikan dan melindungi laman, statistik agregat, menjawab permintaan, dan kewajipan undang-undang; kami tidak menjual data peribadi dan tidak menghantar e-mel pemasaran. Pengehosan mungkin di luar Malaysia, di bawah perkiraan selaras dengan kehendak rentas sempadan PDPA (dipinda 2024). Log pelayan: 90 hari; rekod pengalihan keluar: kekal; surat-menyurat: selagi diperlukan.

7. Hak anda di bawah PDPA

Anda boleh memohon akses atau pembetulan, menarik balik persetujuan, dan menghendaki kami berhenti memproses data anda untuk pemasaran langsung (s.43). Di bawah pindaan 2024 anda boleh memohon kemudahalihan data jika boleh dilaksanakan. E-mel hello@makanmana.com.my dengan subjek "Data Request"; kami menjawab dalam 21 hari. Takedown & Correction — 48 hours

MakanMana aggregates published, attributed content about famous food spots. If something about you is wrong, unwanted, or shouldn't be here, this is the fast way to fix it. We action legitimate requests within 48 hours — no argument, no forms-behind-forms.

Who can ask, and for what

Restaurant owners and staff — correct any fact (name, address, phone, hours, price, halal status, tags); remove a photo of your premises, or your entire listing. Removal comes with a permanent opt-out, so your restaurant is not re-added later.
Creators (YouTubers, bloggers) and publications — remove any citation of your work: the quote, link, embedded video, or your name. Or opt out entirely, permanently. (Embedding-disabled videos never appear here — the official player honours your settings.)
Photographers — photos appear under Google's Places licence with your credit as Google supplies it. Want a specific photo off this site regardless? Tell us — removed within 48 hours and blacklisted locally. (Removal at the source is via Google Maps' own process; ours affects this site only.)
Anyone appearing in a photo (a face, a car plate) — ask and we remove or replace the photo.
Rights holders generally — trademark or copyright concerns about any content here.

How to ask

Email hello@makanmana.com.my with subject "Takedown". Include: (1) the listing or content concerned — a link is perfect; (2) what you want — correction, photo removal, citation removal, or full removal; (3) who you are in relation to it. A business email matching the restaurant or channel, or a message from the channel's own account, is usually evidence enough — we keep verification light, because we would rather honour a genuine request fast than interrogate it.

What we do

Within 48 hours the content is corrected or removed, and we confirm by reply. Removals go into a permanent opt-out register our data pipeline checks on every run, so removed content does not quietly return. If a request is unclear or appears not to come from the right party, we reply asking for clarification — the clock runs from when the request is substantiated. Anyone may report a plainly wrong fact — no proof of ownership needed for a simple correction. We can only remove what is on MakanMana, not content on other platforms.

Attribution & Content Policy

MakanMana's credibility is borrowed. Restaurants are famous because named creators and guides made them famous — so attribution is not a legal chore here; it is the product. This is how every content type on the site is sourced, credited, and removed on request.

Creators (KOLs)

Names attribute, never endorse: a creator's name appears only to attribute their own published work, always linking to the original. Quotes are short, verbatim, and marked as quotes. Our pipeline cross-checks every cited video against the actual publishing channel, and labels recipe or compilation videos as such. Creators get traffic and a credited backlink — and a permanent opt-out any time under the Takedown Policy.

Video

Official YouTube embeds only, in YouTube's own privacy-enhanced player. We never download, re-host, crop, clip, or re-upload anyone's video. Timestamp starts are a standard player feature. If a creator disables embedding, YouTube's player enforces it and we link out instead.

Photos

Restaurant photos come from Google's Places service under licence, credited as Google requires: full-size views display the photographer's name and profile link with the photo; thumbnails rely on Google's express space-limited exception — every thumbnail on this site click-throughs to a larger, fully attributed view. A deterministic match-guard verifies each photo set belongs to the listed restaurant; mismatches fall back to a neutral gradient rather than showing a stranger's shopfront. We never scrape photos from Google Maps, review sites, blogs, social media, or restaurant websites.

The MICHELIN Guide and other marks

References to the MICHELIN Guide or Bib Gourmand are factual, descriptive statements that a restaurant appears in that guide — plain text only, no logos, no star or Bib artwork. MakanMana is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the MICHELIN Guide, Google, YouTube, or any restaurant or creator featured here.

Facts, descriptions and rankings

Listing descriptions are written by us — original text, never copied. Facts carry an internal source record and a last-verified date. "Top 10" lists are mechanical: ranked by counted coverage across published sources, method stated on the page. No taste judgment, no pay-to-rank — ever. Any future paid placement will be labelled and kept out of rankings.

And every rule above ends the same way: if you are the creator, photographer, restaurant, or rights holder and you want out, you get out — within 48 hours, permanently.
