Kim Lian Kee Hokkien Mee
Chinatown / Petaling Street · Kuala Lumpur
Photo: Tiger Sai · Google
Founded in 1927 by Fujianese migrant Wong Kim Lian, this Petaling Street institution is credited with inventing the dark, glossy, pork-lard-fried noodle dish now known as KL Hokkien mee. The noodles are still wok-fried over roaring charcoal flames, giving them a distinctive smokiness.
